Payment Plans

WVU offers two payment plans:

  • TuitionPay Plan through Sallie Mae
  • 60/40 Installment Plan

TuitionPay Plan through Sallie Mae

The TuitionPay Plan is a monthly payment plan offered through Sallie Mae for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. WVU offers the TuitionPay Plan to help you avoid large lump-sum payments. You can spread your WVU tuition and university housing expenses over several months -- interest free. Paying monthly is a more affordable option that makes education costs easier to manage.

Beginning with Fall 2006 semester, WVU and Sallie Mae instituted a "rolling plan" that made paying monthly even easier for students since they would no longer be required to make up back payments when signing up late. However, WVU encourages all students to sign up early. The earlier you join, the lower your monthly payments will be because you'll be spreading your total amount due over a longer period of time.

During Fall and Spring semesters there is a $50.00 enrollment fee when signing up for an annual plan. During the Summer or when you sign up for a semester-only plan in Fall or Spring, the enrollment fee will be $35.00. All enrollment fees need to be paid during registration. The enrollment fee also includes death benefit coverage for the contractor.

All payments (enrollment fee and monthly) should be made payable to and sent directly to Sallie Mae. Sallie Mae will then disburse your monthly payments to WVU in a weekly disbursement file.

For more details or to enroll, please visit TuitionPay's web-site at: www.tuitionpay.com/wvu.

When you're ready to sign up, just click on "Enroll Now" to create your TuitionPay account!

***NOTE: When signing up for TuitionPay, it is the student's responsibility to ensure that they have budgeted correctly. For any accounts that are under budget, students will be responsible for either increasing their contract budget or paying the difference directly to WVU prior to the start of the term. Accounts that are not budgeted correctly will be assessed late payment fees when applicable.

60/40 Installment Plan

The 60/40 Plan is a semester installment plan that WVU offers during Fall and Spring terms only. You simply pay 60% of your total balance (after financial aid, waivers, and scholarships have been applied) prior to the first day of the term. The remaining 40% payment is deferred and is not due until the end of the sixth week of the term.

There are no interest or finance charges for using the 60/40 Plan. There also are no sign-up fees to participate. Paying 60% of your balance prior to the first day of the term will automatically enroll you in the 60/40 Plan.

If you are receiving a paper bill, the 60% will automatically be calculated for you as the "Minimum Amount Due" on your bill. Students that make their 60% payment on time will receive an updated bill with the remaining amount due for their 40% and the new due date.

Students paying electronically through STAR will need to manually calculate their 60% payment. This can be done by multiplying by 60% their 'Account Balance net of Authorized Financial Aid and Memos' amount in the 'Account Detail By Term/Make Payment' section in STAR. If you are not receiving a paper bill, when your current term charges are assessed, you will receive an electronic notification through MIX. Payment should be made prior to the first day of the term. Students will receive an updated e-mail notification when the 40% is due.

Although paper bills are an option, we encourage all students to view their charges and pay their accounts through STAR. All payments made electronically through STAR are updated and reflected in real-time.

Please contact our customer service line at (304) 293-4006 or e-mail us at OSA@mail.wvu.edu if you have additional questions about our payment plan options.
